Pilot
Direct and relay crucial maneuvering information during all arrivals and departures. Ensure vessels are securely moored and unmoored to/from piers. Maintain communications with Vessel Traffic and assist tug(s).
Master
Ensure safe vessel arrivals and departures within targeted deadlines. Maneuver vessels and barges during arrivals and departures. Lead crews of 7, perform personnel evaluations, enforce safety and environmental policies. Oversee external maintenance work and living quarters sanitation. Conduct safety drills and oversee inspections and audits from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the U.S Coast Guard.
• Transported barges from 82—378 feet in length and up to 11,016 gross tons.
• Operated towing vessels between 75—128 feet in length with gross tonnages ranging from 75—280.
• Towed double-hulled barges carrying liquified natural gas, fuel oils, and crude oil. Delivered barges carrying sand, cement, general containers, vehicles, sensitive, and refrigerated shipping containers.
• Safely completed 4 voyages between the Hawaiian Islands and the American West Coast without incident.
• Safely executed 3 government-contracted fuel delivery voyages between Honolulu and Midway Atoll.
• Functioned as primary point of contact for Matson Shipping, Chevron, Island Energy, Hawaiian Cement, Hawaii Gas, PAR, HECO, MECO, the United States Department of the Interior, the State of Hawaii, and the United States Navy.
First Mate
Completed navigation watches and in-harbor barge watches. Assisted vessel master with daily crew management protocols.
• Assisted in arrivals and departures by operating remote-controlled bow-thruster units on barges during departures and arrivals. Inspect and prepare towing equipment prior to all departures and ensure proper operation and lashing of refrigerated shipping containers prior to leaving ports.
• Charged with preparing and inspecting all towing gear such as tow cables, barge bridal chains, wire, and all connection points between tug and tow.
Tidewater Inc. — New Orleans, LA 6/2006 - 9/2006
Master
Commanded a 179-foot, 494 gross ton Fast Supply Vessel (FSV) with a class 1 dynamic positioning system (DP-1) that worked in the Gulf of Paria, Venezuela. Supplied the ENSCO 69 oil production platform chartered by Conoco Philips with all needed raw material, production equipment, and personnel. Transported oil drilling equipment and bulk items needed for productions such as fresh water, diesel fuel, barite, drilling lubricants, and drill bit cutting boxes.
• Guided daily vessel operations for a crew of 12 and ensured safety and environmental policy compliance.
Reina Marine Inc. — San Diego, CA 4/2003 - 5/2006
Master / Port Captain
Managed company fleet and personally operated the MV Reel Pain II, a 92-foot 128 gross ton yacht, and the MV Reel Pain II. Guided crew of 4 direct reports while operating the MV Reel Pain II and oversaw charter voyages and exclusive private galas.
• Delivered MV Reel Pain II from Hollywood, FL to San Diego, CA through the Panama Canal.
• Won first place at Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Tournament winnings totaled $1.26M USD.
Price Industries. — San Diego, CA 2/2000 - 2/2003
Master / Mate
Alternated between master and first mate while serving on an 85-foot charter boat with a registered weight of 80 gross tons named the MV International Star. Managed crew of 5 and completed fishing trips in the coastal waters of Southern California and the Baja Peninsula of Mexico. In addition to boat handling duties, oversaw public relations and directed all aspects of vessel maintenance.
• Requisitioned, inspected, and serviced all diving and fishing equipment that was used by paying clients.
• Conducted 50+ charter voyages per year ranging from 1—10 days and served up to 22 passengers.

Captained and served as chief mate on the MV Red Rooster III, a 105-foot charter boat with a weight of 99 gross tons. Managed a crew of 8 direct-reports and led charter fishing trips for world-record Yellow Fin Tuna in Mexican waters.
